Vocational Training Institute Establishment

The youth of Uganda continue to face significant barriers to self-reliance, with widespread unemployment and a lack of market-oriented skills trapping many in a cycle of poverty. Marginalized groups, including persons with disabilities, teenage mothers, and women, are often the most affected by these challenges due to social and cultural barriers that limit their economic participation. To address these deeply rooted issues, Twahirah Islamic Charity Organisation (TICO) is seeking partners to support the establishment of a Vocational Training Centre in Kijabijjo, Wakiso District.

Our vision is to empower 60 vulnerable individuals annually through an intensive 12-month program that combines technical mastery with entrepreneurship and digital literacy. The centre will provide hands-on training in critical trades such as:

  • Fashion & Design
  • Information Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Cookery and bakery
  • Hairdressing & Cosmetology
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Plumbing
  • Metal Fabrication
  • Urban Farming

To ensure long-term success, graduates will receive nationally recognized certificates from the Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB), directly enhancing their employability and readiness to launch micro-enterprises. The total investment required to launch and operate the centre for its inaugural year is USD 40,000. This budget covers the procurement of essential training equipment such as sewing machines, computers, and electric ovens as well as centre registration, curriculum delivery, and the provision of startup kits for the most promising graduates.

We invite you to partner with us in this transformative initiative. By supporting the vocational training centre, you are not just funding a training program; you are investing in a sustainable community hub that turns God-given potential into financial independence and dignity for the most underserved. Together, we can break the barriers of illiteracy and unemployment, ensuring that no young person or woman is left behind.
