School Construction Project
For many marginalized communities in Uganda, the distance to a functional school is a physical and psychological barrier that effectively ends a child’s education before it begins. This lack of infrastructure is a primary driver of the “quality paradox,” where enrollment exists but genuine literacy does not. According to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) 2026 and the 2024 National Census, 71.5% of learners in low-grade schools are “learning poor,” unable to comprehend a basic text by age 10. This crisis is fueled by a 68.8% shortage of essential resources, contributing to a national primary completion rate of only 34%.
Twahirah Islamic Charity Organisation (TICO) is committed to changing this narrative by constructing modern, well-equipped primary schools in the heart of underserved regions. Our construction initiative focuses on creating safe, inclusive learning environments that go beyond walls. We build centres of excellence designed to achieve the 0.844 correlation between resource access and student performance by providing consistent supplies and maintaining lower pupil-teacher ratios. By bringing quality education directly to the community, we remove the safety risks of long commutes and provide a protective shield for the 13% of children who are orphans and vulnerable, ensuring they are not left behind.
Partnering in this vital infrastructure mission provides more than just a building; it establishes a permanent foundation for dignity and economic transformation. Your support for school construction directly addresses the systemic deficits that currently prevent seven out of ten Ugandan children from reaching their potential. By investing in these facilities, you are ensuring that every child has access to the quality education necessary to break the cycle of multidimensional poverty, allowing them to support their families and lead their communities into a brighter future.
