Restoring Dignity Through Clothing and Footwear

Access to decent clothing and footwear is a visible indicator of dignity and self-esteem, yet for many orphans, widows, and vulnerable families in Uganda, the high cost of apparel remains a significant barrier. Many individuals are forced to wear tattered or insufficient clothing, while others face the daily reality of walking barefoot. This clothing poverty leaves them vulnerable to the elements, soil transmitted diseases, and physical injuries, while also leading to social stigmatization and school absenteeism among children.

Twahirah Islamic Charity Organisation (TICO) addresses these challenges by mobilising resources to provide clean, durable clothing and footwear to those in greatest need. Our initiative focuses on the most overlooked members of society, carefully collecting and distributing items that are appropriate for the age, size, and daily activities of each recipient. By providing a child with a pair of shoes for school or a widow with decent attire, we are doing more than providing physical protection; we are restoring a sense of worth and allowing individuals to move through their communities with renewed confidence. These simple yet profound interventions have helped eliminate social barriers and improved the physical well-being of hundreds.

Your support for this drive ensures that we can continue to put shoes on the feet and clothes on the backs of those who need them most, fostering a stronger sense of inclusion and belonging across Uganda.
